Leech Lake is firing on all cylinders right now. The walleye bite is excellent and the crappie fishing has been some of the best we have seen in years.
**Current Conditions**
Surface water temperatures are at 68F. The walleyes are relating to mid-lake structure while the crappies have moved into the deeper basins. Perfect conditions for a mixed bag day.
**Hot Spots**
– Pelican Island: Rock piles holding limits of walleyes
– Squaw Bay: Deep weed edges producing nice crappies
– Portage Bay: Evening walleye bite on spinner rigs
**What is Working**
Bottom bouncers with spinner rigs tipped with crawlers have been our go-to presentation. For crappies, try small jigs tipped with plastics fished vertically over deep basins.
